About Us

Who We Are

Hillary Saunders and Halie Waid officially founded Finish Line Farm/Cat Rescue, Virginia in September of 2021. The rescue started taking in cats and kittens immediately and grew to taking in or finding placement for over 20 cats and kittens a month. Since founding, the rescue realized its strongest point of impact was in the realm of emergency and neonatal care. Hillary is a US Army Veteran who completed her service contract in 2020 and received a 100% disability rating from the VA. She continues to give back to her community by caring for the cats/kittens who need us most. Halie is a Biologist with a passion for animals and their well-being. She uses her knowledge and understanding of animals to provide resources that ultimately save lives.

What we Do: Neonatal and Emergency Care

Finish Line Farm Cat Rescue is a small-scale, home-based cat rescue that operates solely from community funding and support.

During the winter months, our primary focus is getting cats and kittens out of the shelters and helping them get adopted, as well as assisting with local TNR. During the warm months, our rescue (like every other) is flooded with panicked calls about kittens, orphaned neonates, and pregnant mamas.

This rescue is among the few that offers its most vulnerable felines comfort in an incubator, thanks to our amazing donors in memory of Coral, a neonate who taught us so much. Our Curadle B90N offers automatic temperature/humidity control, heated humidification system (to kill germs), and an antibiotic/deodorizing filter for outside air with built in anion function. We are highly skilled in the art of caring for neonatal kittens.

Our rescue is also among the few organizations willing to take in an emergency. Under the guidance and with the help and support of our amazing Veterinarian and her staff at Cumberland Animal Hospital, we are able to provide life-saving treatment to any kitten that is in danger of losing their life, limb(s), or eyesight.

Our Team

Finish Line Farm Cat Rescue was founded by Hillary Saunders and Halie Waid. Their board of directors consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and three Voting Members. We also have a few volunteers, and are always looking to add more! Everyone involved in this rescue has the same goal: make a difference, save lives. We work together to provide resources, soft landings, and more to our community. Please email us by using the feature on the "Contact Us" tab for any questions, comments, or concerns you may have!
